Area 80 Website Privacy Notice

Last updated: July 3, 2026

Alcoholics Anonymous in Manitoba (Area 80) runs the aamanitoba.org website so that anyone looking for a meeting, for help, or for information about A.A. in Manitoba can find it quickly. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of our Traditions, and it guides how we built this site. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site does and does not collect, and why.

If anything here is unclear, please reach out using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

What we do not collect

We want to be clear about this first, because it matters most.

  • We do not ask you to create an account or log in to use this site.
  • We do not collect your name, and we do not try to identify who you are.
  • We do not store the full IP address of your visit.
  • We do not capture anything you type into a form. Form fields are masked before any data leaves your browser.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade any information to anyone, ever.

You can browse this site, find a meeting, and read everything on it without giving us any personal information at all.

Information collected automatically

To keep the site working well and easy to use, we measure how the site is used in an anonymous way. We use two tools.

Microsoft Clarity helps us see how the site is used overall: which pages people visit, where they click, how far they scroll, and where they run into trouble such as a broken link or a form that will not submit. We run Clarity in Strict masking mode, the most private setting it offers. In this mode:

  • All text and all images on the page are hidden from us and appear only as blank blocks.
  • Anything typed into a form is masked and is never sent to Microsoft.
  • Only an approximate, general location is used, for example the country a visit came from. No full IP address is
    stored.

Clarity reconstructs activity inside our website's window only. It is not a video of your screen, it cannot see your other tabs or applications, and it cannot identify you.

Google Analytics gives us general statistics such as how many people visit, which pages are most useful, and where visitors come from. It is configured to measure activity in aggregate, not to identify individuals.

We use this information for one purpose: to understand whether people can easily find meetings, help, and information, and to fix the site when something is not working. This is the same kind of anonymous website measurement that A.A. World Services uses on aa.org.

Information you choose to give us

Some parts of the site let you contact us or send us information, for example by emailing the Central Office or submitting a question, event, or piece of feedback. When you choose to send us something, we receive only what you decide to include, such as your email address and your message.

We use that information only to respond to you or to act on your request. We do not add you to any marketing list, and we do not share your message outside the trusted servants who need it to help you.

Please remember that you control how much you tell us. In keeping with our Traditions, you never need to give your full name to reach A.A. in Manitoba.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies so that the analytics tools above can count visits without identifying you. These cookies do not collect personal information and are not used for advertising. You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

Third-party services

We use only a small number of trusted third-party services to help operate this website, including Microsoft Clarity for anonymous analytics, Google Analytics for aggregated website statistics, and Webflow as our website hosting platform. Each provider maintains its own privacy practices. We have configured these services to support our commitment to anonymity and to collect only the minimum information necessary to operate and improve the website.

Anonymity and our Traditions

Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions. The real test of any tool we use is simple: could it reveal who a member is? Because the tools on the aamanitoba.org website collects no names, no typed content, and no full IP address, no member can be identified from anything the member may store.

A small group of elected volunteers maintains the aamanitoba.org website on the Area's behalf and reviews this anonymous information only to keep the site working and easy to use, the same way the General Service Office reviews website activity for aa.org. We share how the site is run openly, as a matter of integrity, because that is how trusted servants are meant to work.

How long we keep information

Anonymous session information in Microsoft Clarity is kept for a limited window, 30 days by default, and then removed. Google Analytics keeps aggregated statistics for a limited period for trend reporting. Messages you send us by email or form are kept only as long as needed to respond to you and to keep ordinary records of A.A. service.

Your choices

  • Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies at any time.
  • If your browser sends a "Global Privacy Control" signal, Microsoft Clarity honours it automatically.
  • You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Links to other websites

The only external website we intentionally link to is the General Service Office of Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. (aa.org), including the official Meeting Guide App information page. That website may itself contain links to other external resources. We may also provide links to documents and files hosted within the A.A. Manitoba Google Workspace (aamanitoba.org) to support Area business. Once you leave the aamanitoba.org website, this Privacy Notice no longer applies, and we encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time as the site changes or as we adopt new tools. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. The committee reviews the site's analytics tools roughly every quarter as part of its ordinary stewardship.
