COVID-19 Updates

In-person Meetings & Manitoba Public Health Orders

With the current health and safety regulations around public gatherings please be mindful that many Area 80 meetings are not happening in person.

Each group is autonomous and is guided by a well-informed group conscience. The following information is provided to help you and your group be informed of the current public health orders and recommendations of your own local community.

The Provincial Government has published new public health orders effective December 27, 2021. The following excerpts from the orders apply to indoor gatherings in public places (other than at a private residence):

ORDER 2
2(1) Except as otherwise permitted by these Orders, all persons are prohibited from assembling in a gathering involving more than
(a) 25 persons or 25% of the usual capacity of the premises, whichever is lesser, in the case of an indoor gathering that does not take place at a private residence;

One suggestion is that a group may wish to set their meeting capacity at 25 or 25% capacity (whichever is lower), if there may be members in attendance who are unvaccinated.

2(2) If attendance at an indoor gathering that does not take place at a private residence is restricted to
(a) persons who produce proof of vaccination;
(b) persons who produce proof from the Government of Manitoba that there is a medical reason for the person not to receive a vaccine for COVID-19;
(c) persons under 12 years of age; and
(d) persons born between January 1, 2010 and January 11, 2010 inclusive;
the number of persons attending the gathering must not exceed 50% of the usual capacity of the premises or 250 persons, whichever is lesser.

Use of masks
ORDER 29
29(1) A person who enters or remains in an indoor public place must wear a mask in a manner that covers their mouth, nose and chin without gapping.
29(2) The operator of an indoor public place must ensure that every person who is not wearing a mask while in the indoor public place is given a reminder to do so as soon as practicable.

For further details, please use this link to read the order:   Public Health Orders, December 27, 2021.

Please inform your groups ASAP and any other groups that may not have a GSR or Intergroup representative.
